Rotax Pan American Challenge To Bring International Flair to North Liberty, IN
Michiana Raceway Park, one of the leading kart racing facilities in the country, will host its first International karting event as the Rotax Pan American Challenge will visit the facility this weekend, May 20-22. The invite is open to racers from all over the world and will likely see top drivers from North, Central and South America as well as the Caribbean, competing for the chance to be invited to the Rotax Grand Final event, the Olympics of karting, to be held in Al Ain United Arab Emirates later this year.
“This is an exciting event to be hosting,” said Garry Lobaugh,
President of Michiana Raceway Park. “The quality of style of racing this
weekend promises to be very intense as these drivers are competing for a
big honor. I hope some of our local racers are encouraged to compete!
We welcome motorsports enthusiasts to come visit our facility to see
what international karting looks like on American soil.”
Located only miles from downtown South Bend, Michiana Raceway Park has
been a haven for local kart racers for several years and continues to
undergo upgrades and improvements to make it one of the nicest karting
facilities in the country. With a family-friendly atmosphere, complete
with several viewing areas and a playground, the track is an inviting
place for both racers and spectators.
Even though this is an international event for serious kart racers, it
is still a great way to see what karting is all about,” said Lobaugh.
“Our facility offers karting schools and karting leagues for people of
all ages and experience level. Anyone can get started in racing here!”
The Pan American Rotax Max Challenge introduces a new age of Rotax Max
racing in the Americas. As an official International Rotax Max
Challenge, the Pan American RMC will provide an opportunity for
Rotaxians from all over North, Central and South America, the Caribbean,
and indeed every country in the world, to compete against the best
Rotax Max racers from the Americas at The Pan Am Championship Event in
September.
The qualifying races lead to the incredible Pan American Rotax Max
Challenge Championship Event. Based on results from that event, seven
Pan American RMC competitors will be awarded coveted spots to represent
their home country at "The Olympics of Karting", the Rotax Max Challenge
Grand Finals.
If you, or a family member, are interested in getting involved in
karting, this weekend is a great time to learn. Spectator passes may be
purchased $5 per day or if you would like to venture into the pit area, a
pit pass is available at the gate.
